Atlantic White Marlin are the smallest of the Marlins, reaching 9 feet in length and topping out at 180 Ibs. They may be small by Marlin standards but they harness a massive amount of energy and turn it into speed, which is what they use to overcome their prey.
“The Swift King” is much more gestural than many of my other works, because I wanted to highlight the feeling of speed and movement. His face remains in focus, with hints of silver flashing at certain angles, reminiscing the reflective scales that cover this magnificent fishes body. His eye is intensely focused, as he swings around preparing to speed off in the direction of his focus. This work is all about intensity and movement, showcasing the energy and speed these amazing fish harness.
