The Cypress was regarded as a sacred tree by ancient peoples, who immortalized it as the “Tree of Life” for its longevity, beautiful green pues, and ability to withstand the elements of the world as a unit.
Today, the Cypress forests in Florida, for all their strength, face an uncertain future with the demand for ever more land to be converted into malls, roads, and sub-divisions. Wetlands are some of the most important habitats to Floridians because these swathes of everflowing water both clean and restore the water in our aquifer, of which over 17 million and counting depend on for clean and safe drinking water. It is also one of the most endangered, because of careless development over the last 60 years.
Without these beautiful Cypress trees, and the land on which they rest, the future of Florida’s wild heritage and the health of the people who live here lay unwritten and uncertain. With your patronage of this artwork, you are directly helping support efforts by The Wildlife Florida Corridor and developing organizations working to protect and restore vital lands found only in Florida. Thank you for your love!
